The SSM drives new sales of RM. To be successful, the SSM will know everything about research information management and the competing products in the space. The position needs to be based in Beijing/Shanghai and reports to the Regional Solution Sales Manager leading the RM product line in China. Your responsibilities • Develop a deep understanding of the research information management space and the competing players. • Achievement of quarterly and annual new sales quota for China assigned territories. • Create and execute on the RM penetration plan in territory. Align territory and account solution portfolio plan with holistic territory/account plan • Collaborate with regional sales team to develop targeted sales plans for each sub-region and the execution of these plans • Develop a strong understanding of the competitor landscape and be able to successfully position against these • Negotiate and close contracts for new sales • Successful transition of ownership of the account/ agreement to Account Manager & Customer Consultant, ensuring growth on the total base of the portfolio • Key expert on specific research management workflow, being able to bring global references to customers in territory • Stay abreast of development in field and market segment, and share with Elsevier’s wider team • Provide continuous feedback to product and marketing teams and participate in projects to help marketing in meeting strategic sales objectives • Channel feedback to the Product organization for continued product enhancement and new development needs, including for customized solutions • Write successful RFP responses • Become a thought leader in research information management and be a coach to other sales colleagues in learning the space and RM. What you should bring • University degree • Minimum of 5 years’ proven new-sales track record in competitive environments • Proven experience in complex solution-sales approach - “consultative selling” • Experience working in or with research administration and/or management consulting functions • Excellent analytical skills • Knowledge of bibliometrics, university research administration and/or IT is a plus • Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills • Fluency both written and oral in English. • Experienced in working in an international matrixes organization is helpful • A passion for closing deals • This job requires frequent travelling to diverse locations within your territory (40%~50%)
