83 As a member of Asia Engineering team, the Fan Design Engineer will be responsible to Provide end-to-end technical support for pre-sales initiatives and product development, including proposal design, prototyping, and trial production execution. Oversee technical documentation and ensure seamless transition from R&D to mass production by delivering compliant and finalized engineering files. Based at Lear’s Wuxi plant , this full-time position will report to the principle engineer, TCS China.
The Role
Key responsibilities include the following:
61 85Design and develop seat comfort systems (VTB, Blower, comfort cools, etc.) in direct collaboration with customer technical personnel, strictly adhering to APQP/*** procedures to ensure product performance and reliability.
61 85Lead the structural design, and performance optimization of axial/centrifugal fans (e.g., multi-blade centrifugal fan volutes), focusing on enhancing air volume, pressure, and noise reduction (NVH) capabilities.
61 85Develop integrated ventilation system solutions, including layout design and simulation validation of airbags, ducts, and channels, while collaborating with manufacturing teams to implement Design for DFM.
61 85Formulate fan testing plans (DVP), conduct performance tests (airflow, noise, power consumption), environmental reliability tests (high/low temperature, vibration), and support mass production ramp-up, resolving technical issues during trial production and after-sales phases.
61 Establish a fan technology database, monitor industry advancements (e.g., high-efficiency motors, intelligent controls), and participate in competitor analysis and product continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
a) Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Fluid Dynamics, Aerodynamics, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred (relevant automotive industry experience may relax requirements to college level).
b) Work Experience
Minimum 5 years of fan design and development experience, with at least 3 years specializing in automotive seat ventilation systems or axial/centrifugal fan development.
Proven experience in full project lifecycle management (from concept design to mass production).
c) Basic Skill
Software Tools: Proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks (3D modeling), CAD (2D drafting), and SAP (data management).
Office Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis), Word (documentation), and PPT (technical presentations).
Language: Fluent verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and client interactions is preferred
d) Advanced Skill
Project Management: Experience executing APQP/*** processes and driving cross-departmental collaboration (R&D, production, customers).
Proficient in key technical indicators such as ventilation system PQ curves and airflow etc. distribution optimization.
Problem-Solving: Strong logical thinking and conflict management abilities, capable of resolving fan noise, vibration, and performance issues through simulation and experimental analysis.
Leadership: Demonstrated team coordination skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and drive technical innovation and process optimization.
e) Professional Knowledge
Core Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of vent system design principles (axial/centrifugal),
motor performance optimization (efficiency, electromagnetic noise), fluid simulation, and thermal management.
Materials & Manufacturing: Familiarity with plastic/metal forming processes (injection molding, stamping),
ventilation bag material properties, and regulatory compliance (e.g., RoHS, CE).
Industry Standards: Knowledge of automotive seat comfort testing protocols, NVH control methodologies, and IATF 16949 requirements.
