Key Accountabilities
• Support new and current product design and development process through Finite Element analyses (FEA) and reporting using Ansys Workbench, Fluent, CFX and/or the Altair Suite.
• Perform specialized CAE development and benchmarking activities in areas of CFD and Thermal.
• Lead advanced projects which will benefit component or system-level design and/or CAE group methodologies.
• Design and conduct experiments for correlation of analysis to lab test results.
• Work with internal and outside sources to accomplish some common daily analysis tasks and/or R&D projects.
• Support development and implementation of CAE group functional and technical capabilities, collaborate with other CAE team members on projects and methodologies.
• Global support of CFD analysis work, including US, Europe, Asia Technical Centers and other locations.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Master’s degree in Fluid Mechanics or Thermodynamics
• At least 5 years CFD experience in Automotive Powertrain or Driveline, including eMotor, transfer cases, gearboxes and electric drive modules.
• Proficiency in using Finite Volume Method (FVM) and/or Particle-based CFD software
• Proficiency with fluid and thermal theory and analysis process
• Proficiency with lubrication & cooling system optimization using Hydraulic/Splash Analysis
• Familiarity with running analyses through HPC technology
